Fire Department

The all volunteer Fire Department is an important part of the Barnesville area, delivering high quality fire protection and emergency medical services. The department services the City of Barnesville as well as Wilkin and Clay County, 24/7/365.


As emergency responders, the Fire Department handles a wide variety of crisis and emergency situations. The 26 loyal volunteers are constantly training to keep skills up to date. We are prepared to provide fire suppression, emergency medical call response, hazardous materials response, water and ice rescue and automobile extrication

Burning Permits

Property owners outside of the Barnesville city limits but within the Barnesville Fire District can apply for a Minnesota Open Burning Permit. The fee is $25 per permit.

Interested parties should complete the application and either bring in to Barnesville City Hall at 102 Front Street North or mail to Post Office Box 550; Barnesville, MN 56514.
