Animal Control

Within city limits, all dogs and cats over 6 months of age must display a city license tag. Licenses are available for purchase (along with proof of Rabies Vaccination) at City Hall, the Police Department or the Barnesville Animal Clinic. Pet licenses are good for one calendar year and must be renewed each January 1st. Cost of the licenses are $5.00 for de-sexed pets and $10.00 for others.

Cats and dogs are not allowed to run loose off property unless under the care and control of their owners. There is an impound facility to temporarily hold animals found running at large. Animals are held for 5 days. Pictures of impounded pets are posted at various locations around town and on the Barnesville Animal Control facebook page. For further information or questions, please contact the Barnesville Police Department – Animal Control by phone: 218-354-2281.
