Important Information about Your Drinking Water
This is not an emergency.
This notice is for customers of the City of Barnesville public water supply.
12/9/2024
We are making improvements to the drinking water supply. These improvements may cause temporary changes in your water.
What improvements are being made?
Treatment Resources will be replacing the Filter Media at the Water Treatment Plant, we anticipate this to take place the week of December 16th and to be concluded by Friday, December 20. This involves removing the green sand and anthracite, inspecting the piping under the media and replacement of the filter media. During this replacement there may be slight water quality changes due to the bypass of the filter media beds, however the water department will be closely monitoring the water quality and making any corrections as quickly as possible.
Are there any health or safety concerns?
There will not be any health or safety concerns with this project, but water users may see slight discoloration during the project and for some days after completion while we fine tune the plant adjustments.
Will there be any water quality changes?
There may be slight changes to the water quality as we will be bypassing the filtration system for the duration of the filter media replacement.
Will my water service be disrupted?
There are no anticipated interruptions to service during the course of the project.
We expect any issues to be fixed by December 20, 2024. We will send another notice if we expect issues to continue. For more information, please contact Charlie Revering at publicworks@barnesvillemn.com or at 701-219-5791.
