Telephone services require a $60.00 prepayment which is applied directly to your account. Statements are sent with the combined utility bill on the 25th of the month and are due on the 15th. A 1 1/2% finance charge will be applied if the balance is not paid in full. We also provide inexpensive Internet access services.

Local residential rates are: $9.50 per month plus mandated charges
Interstate Access: $6.50

Business rates: 14.00 per month
Subscriber Line Charge: $6.50 per month

CUSTOM CALLING FEATURES
Barnesville Municipal Telephone offers a variety of optional calling services for their customers ranging from call waiting to caller name & number. For a complete listing of available features look further down on this page.

LONG DISTANCE
In addition to local phone service, the City also offers long distance services through Barnesville Long Distance. By selecting Barnesville Long Distance as their carriers, customers will receive $.14 per minute charges for all outgoing calls to anyone in the USA, any time of the day or night. Billing is in 6 second units after a 30 second minimum per call. In addition Barnesville Long Distance customers benefit from additional volume discounts.

Barnesville Long Distance customers will be charged a $3.95 monthly service fee.

Base Rate: 14¢ per minute

Call 60 – $6.95/mo.:
Only 8 cents a Minute. Includes 60 minutes of Long Distance per month*

Call 350 – $26.95/mo.:
Only 6 cents a Minute. Includes 350 minutes of Long Distance per month*
* Minutes are for domestic calls only. International rates still apply.

The billing for Barnesville Long Distance is included on your local Barnesville Municipal Telephone bill.

TRAVEL CARDS
Travel Cards are also available through Barnesville Long Distance. It’s easy to sign up. There is a very simple form to fill out and we will send you your own personal Travel Card(s). Making calls away from home is simple, all you do is dial the 800 number listed on the back of the card and enter your home telephone number plus your 4-digit PIN (that you assign yourself). With your Travel Card, you can call from any phone in the USA to over 200 countries worldwide.

No monthly fees, no surcharge, low rate of only $.25 per minute.

CALL FORWARDING:
Lets you transfer your incoming calls to another number. Monthly rate — $1.00

CALL FORWARDING-BUSY:
When your line is busy, automatically forwards calls to the alternate phone number you designated. Monthly rate — $1.50

CALL FORWARDING-NO ANSWER:
When your line is not answered, automatically forwards calls to the alternate phone number you designated. Monthly rate — $1.50

THREE-WAY CALLING:
Allows you to add a third party to a call and all three of you can talk to each other. Monthly rate — $1.00

CALL TRANSFER:
Allows you to add a third party to a call and then drop out, leaving the other users connected. Requires three-way calling. Monthly rate — $2.00

AUTOMATIC CALLBACK – *66:
Your phone redials a busy number for up to 30 minutes. Monthly rate — $1.50

AUTOMATIC RECALL – *69:
Allows you to return the call you just missed. This does not return blocked calls. Monthly rate — $1.50

SPEED DIAL – 8:
Allows you to create & store a list of 8 frequently called numbers which are dialed by entering only a digit. Monthly rate — $1.00

SPEED DIAL – 30:
Allows you to create & store a list of 30 frequently called numbers which are dialed by entering only a digit. Monthly rate — $3.00

DISTINCTIVE RINGING/TEEN SERVICE:
Establishes a second number for incoming calls and a special ring lets you know when someone calls that number. Monthly rate — $5.00

CALL WAITING:
Notifies you of an incoming call using a special tone. No Charge.

DISTINCTIVE RINGING/D.R. CALL WAITING:
Allows you to create a list of telephone numbers which have a special ring when they call you. All other calls will ring in the normal manner. With Call Waiting you’ll also hear a special tone when someone on your list calls. Monthly rate — $1.50 for 32 numbers.

SELECTIVE CALL REJECTION:
Allows you to create a list of telephone numbers from which you do not wish to receive calls. Those callers receive a recording that you are not accepting calls at this time. This feature works on blocked calls. Monthly rate — $1.50 for 32 numbers.

SELECTIVE CALL ACCEPTANCE:
Allows you to create a list of telephone numbers from which you are willing to accept calls. All other calls receive a recording that you are not accepting at this time. This feature works on blocked calls. Monthly rate — $1.50 for 32 numbers.

SELECTIVE CALL FORWARDING:
Allows you to create a list of telephone numbers that are to be forwarded when they call you. All other calls will ring your phone in the normal manner. Monthly rate — $1.50 for 32 numbers.

CALLER ID/NUMBER:
Lets you see the number of who is calling before you answer the phone. Anonymous Call rejection included. Caller ID box required. Can rent the box for $3.00 a month or purchase one. Monthly rate — $3.00

CALLER ID NAME + NUMBER:
Monthly rate — $4.50

PIC FREEZE:
To prevent someone from changing your long distance carrier without your knowledge you can “freeze” your carrier choices. Need to fill out necessary form at office. No monthly charge.

WIRE MAINTENANCE:
Monthly rate — 50 cents

TOLL DENIAL:
You are not able to make long distance calls. No monthly charge

900 BLOCKING:
You are not able to call 900 numbers. No monthly charge

UNLISTED NUMBER and/or UNPUBLISHED NUMBER:
If you choose unlisted, your telephone number will not be listed with directory information. If you choose unpublished, your number will not be listed in the telephone book. Monthly rate — $1.00

CALLER ID (LINE BLOCKING):
You can block your number from being displayed. All calls are blocked unless you unblock them. Monthly rate — No monthly charge

To Set Up Voice Mail

  1. Call your voice mail access number *99 from home, or 354-6245 from other locations.
  2. When prompted to enter mailbox number
    If calling from the phone your voice mail is on, Press #. OR
    If calling from other locations, enter your telephone number. Then press the * key while message is    playing.
  3. Enter 0000 (4 zeros), followed by the # key. Your PIN number will be a default code of “0000” until   you change it.
  4. Main Menu: Press 9 for mailbox setup.

To Access Your Mailbox

  1. Call your voice mail access number: * 99 from home, or 354-6245 from other locations.
  2. When prompted to enter mailbox number:
    If calling from the phone your voice mail is on, Press #. OR
    If calling from other locations, enter your telephone number. Then press the * key while message is playing.
  3. Enter your PIN number, followed by the # key. Your PIN number will be a default code of “0000” until you change it.
  4. Main Menu: Press 1 to retrieve messages, Press 3 to send, Press 7 for current date and time or Press 9 for mailbox setup.

 

To Set-Up Mailbox

You have several options in mailbox set-up menu:

  1. Press 1: Greeting options. (You can disregard this step if you choose to use the default greeting).
  2. Press 2: Change PIN Number
  3. Press 4: Disable/Enable Auto-Login
  4. Press *: Return to main menu
  5. Press 0: To hear instructions again

 

To change or record your greeting:

  1. Press 1 – Play current greeting.
  2. Press 2 – Save greeting. Greeting must be saved to be activated
  3. Press 3- Delete custom greeting.
  4. Press 4- Record your greeting.
  5. Press * – Return to mailbox set-up.
  6. Press 0 – To hear options again.

 

To change your PIN Number:

  1. Enter new PIN Number, followed by the # key. This PIN Number is any series of up to 16 digits you choose. You will be unable to access your mailbox without this PIN Number, so be sure to choose one that is easy for you to remember.
  2. To verify, enter your PIN Number again, followed by the # key.

When calling from your home, Auto Login gives you the option to enter your mailbox without entering a PIN Number each time.

 

To Change Auto Login Option:

  1. Press 1 to change the current Auto Login option.
  2. Press * to return to the main menu.
  3. Press 0 to hear the instructions again.

 

To Access Your Sub-Mailbox

  1. Follow steps 1 and 2 from “To Access Your Mailbox”.
  2. Enter your sub-mailbox number. If you are the Group Administrator and wish to record a group greeting, press * to access the Group Greeting Menu. A voice prompt will guide you through those steps.
  3. Enter your PIN Number, followed by the # key. Your PIN Number will be defaulted code of “0000” until you change it.
  4. Main Menu: Press 1 to retrieve messages, Press 5 to hear which sub-mailboxes have new messages or Press 9 for mailbox setup.

 

To Retrieve Messages

Three options in message retrieval menu:

  1. Press 1: New messages.
  2. Press 2: Saved messages.
  3. Press *: Return to main menu.

Listen to messages:

  1. Press 1 – Play or re-play messages.
  2. Press 2 – Save messages and go to next.
  3. Press 3 – Delete message and go to next.
  4. Press 4 – Save message as new.
  5. Press 5 – (1) Reply to a message. (use this option for sub-mailboxes)
  6. Press 6 – (1) Forward message. (use this option for sub-mailboxes)
  7. Press 7 – Skip back three seconds.
  8. Press 8 – Pause or continue message.
  9. Press 9 – Skip forward three seconds.
  10. Press * – Return to main menu.

 

To access the Voicemail Web Portal

  1. Go to http://voicemail.barnesvillemn.com
  2. Enter your phone number with area code and no spaces (218354XXXX)
  3. Enter your default password 0000 (4zeros)
  4. Click on the “Home”tab to:
    1. See a list of stored voicemails
    2. Manage your voicemail list by listening, saving or deleting the voicemail messages.
    3. Click on “My Settings” then select the “General Category”here you can :
      1. Change your password
      2. Enter an e-mail address you would like to send your voicemails to.
      3. Click on “My Settings” then select the “Voicemail Category” here you can:
        1. Change your PIN number ( The pin allows you to access you voicemail from a telephone)
        2. Add, edit, or delete from your greeting list. Set which greeting will be  your primary greeting.
